CHICO., Calif. — Eleven lucky Powerball players from Chico stand to split $4,927,915 after a single ticket matched five of the six numbers (missing the red Powerball number) during this week's drawing.
The wining ticket was sold at Duke's Cork N Bottle Shop on the Esplanade, which will receive $24,639 for merely being the establishment that sold the winning ticket.
An employee of Duke's said that every Wednesday for the last 3-4 years a gentleman representing himself and the other 10 came into Duke's to purchase at least one Powerball ticket.
Anthony Sayegh, the owner of Duke's, knows the gentleman but declined to release his and the others identities.
"We're actually excited about it," said Savegh.
The publicity has sent more customers into Duke's, many of whom are purchasing Lotto tickets wishing that Lotto lightning can strike twice in the same spot.
Because the "Chico 11" didn't get the red Powerball number, the prize for drawing all six numbers has increased to $203 million.
The next drawing it Saturday night.
