Sacramento, Calif — The Klamathon fire, burning in Siskiyou County is now at 5,000 acres, with no containment.
Tonight, Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Siskiyou County.
Cal Fire is reporting multiple structures are threatened, damaged or destroyed.
Evacuations are in effect for Klamathon Road, from I-5 to Ager and Hornbrook City, all the way to and including Hilt-Colestein valley.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter in Ashland, Oregon, for people displaced by the fire.
This fire has grown rapidly today. Just a few hours ago at 5pm, it was reported as a 50-acre wildfire.
By 6pm, it was 500 acres.
Interstate 5 remains closed between Yreka and Ashland. Cal trans says there is still no estimated time for reopening the interstate and crews still need to assess damage to roadway.
