The next update for Shasta County Election Returns is not expected until Friday.

That's what County Clerk and Registrar of Voters Cathy Darling Allen said during Monday afternoon's update.

There are 16,000 ballots left to process and tabulate, but the ones already tabulated, last Friday, were primarily from Supervisorial Districts One and Five where Erin Resner and Kevin Crye are hoping to represent District One, and Baron Browning and Chris Kellstrom are the leading vote-getters in District Five.

“We had tried to pull as many from [District] One and [District] Five as we could into that count. We’re not successful in getting every single ballot into the count for those two districts, so we do have more to add in those two—and no, I don’t know how many," said Cathy Darling Allen. "But we knew there was a lot of angst amongst those two contests, and so we wanted to try and focus on those.”

While the bulk of the 16,000 remaining ballots should be processed and tabulated by Friday. There are still provisional and challenged ballots to assess.

The final certification of numbers is a few weeks away.
