In the race for a new supervisor of District 5 in Shasta County, Baron Browning leads all other candidates in early voting following Tuesday's Primary election. However, it appears there will be a runoff election.

The candidates are hoping to replace current Supervisor Les Baugh who is not seeking reelection.

As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Anderson City Mayor Baron Browning has tallied 2,171 votes, which is 47% of the votes counted to date, according to theShasta County Office of Elections.

Chris Kelstrom, retired business manager, currently holds the second spot with 1,612 votes, 35% of the votes counted to date.

Kelstrom was backed by the Liberty Committee. Browning was supported by Shasta Vote.

Candidates mustreceive more than 50% of the vote to win the position. If Browning does not reach that mark, they could go into a runoff election in November.
