The body of a missing logger has been recovered from Little Cow Creek on Friday, the Shasta County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The Shasta County Coroner's Office confirmed the identity of the body recovered from the creek as 59-year-old Alex Hays, Sr., the logger who went missing on March 13.

The Sheriff's office said their deputies responded to the creek near Highway 299 East and Seaman Gulch Road just after 1 p.m. on Friday. According to officials, Hays's truck was located in this area on Monday.

Responding deputies confirmed the person was deceased and utilized members of the SCSO Dive Team to recover the body.

The SCSO said Hays's next of kin have been notified and the Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy.
