CHICO, CALIF. — UPDATE, MAY 7TH:
More officials have provided KRCR with statements regarding the violence that broke out on Saturday.
Chico City Councilmember Addison Winslowtold KRCR that they "don’t have much to add to what is still a confusing situation under investigation by Chico Police detectives. Guns have become the leading cause of death for young people in this country and it’s awful and alarming to have a tragedy like this surface within our community. My grief goes out to the community of the woman whose life was taken and my hopes for recovery are with the other victims."
California State Assemblyman James Gallagher also provided KRCR with a statement, saying "my heart breaks for everyone impacted by this senseless violence. Once again, a violent criminal has terrorized Californians. We need to hold people accountable for breaking the law and ensure there are serious consequences for victimizing innocent people. I appreciate the efforts of our law enforcement officers to capture the shooter and ensure he is brought to justice."
As of this reporting, Chico Police have not named a suspect, and have not identified any victims in the shooting.
