A Walgreens store was robbed early Sunday morning by a masked suspect with a crowbar, according to the Chico Police Department.

The Chico Police Dispatch Center received a call from an employee of the Walgreens store at 860 East Avenue in Chico, reporting a robbery had just occurred there.

Officials say a man entered the store and walked behind the checkout counter with a crowbar in his hand, then pried open one of the registers and stole an unknown amount of money before fleeing on foot out the front door.

Officers responded and began an area check for the suspect, but he was not located.

The robbery suspect is described as a white male adult wearing a green short-sleeve shirt over a black long-sleeve shirt, black pants, a black bandana on his head, and a blue mask over his face.

Officials say he fled in the direction of Portal Drive, to the west of the store.

The Chico Police Department has asked anyone with information related to the robbery to contact them at (530) 897-4911 and reference case number 23-002863.
