CHICO, Calif. — An iconic Bidwell Park feature is getting some spring cleaning.
Sycamore Pool in the One Mile Recreation Area in Bidwell Park will be drained and closed for cleaning starting on Tuesday, May 16. The city of Chico is doing some much needed cleaning to the unique swimming area which funnels water from Big Chico Creek to create a public swimming pool for all to use.
Some locals came out Wednesday afternoon hoping to keep cool but were surprised to see the pool completely drained.
“I came down to see what it was like today thinking I might get some exercise today. Apparently, not!” Chico Resident John Wheatley told KRCR.
“I’m glad they are cleaning it,” he continued. “It’s one of the things I like about this town, so I’m glad they take care of it.”
It is anticipated that the pool will be refilled on Friday, May 19, and open for the weekend.
