Roadwork along Bechelli Lane is expanding as the City of Redding continues improvements.

The City of Redding shared they have contracted with Tullis Inc. in the Bechelli Lane Improvement Active Transportation Project. The city will be paying the company $9,463,617 to build continuous sidewalks, bike facilities and other similar improvements.

The improvements will be implemented along Bechelli Lane from Cypress Avenue to the new Costco Development and along Loma Vista Drive between Bechelli Lane and Churn Creek Road. The project is a part of the city's Active Transportation Plan and Regional Transportation Plan.

Improvements include:

  • Americans with Disability Act compliant curb ramps
  • Sidewalk gap completion
  • Enhanced pedestrian crossing
  • Buffered bike lanes
  • Functional landscaping
  • Corridor lighting
  • Asphalt concrete cold milling and placement
  • Micro-surfacing
  • Restriping

Asphalt stripping on Loma Vista Drive from Bechelli Lane through the Churn Creek intersection will begin on Feb. 21 and go through March 10. Loma Vista Drive will be closed from El Portal to Churn Creek Road from Feb. 21 to Feb. 24.

The city also said to expect flaggers, pilot cars and other traffic control measures on Loma Vista and Churn Creek. The majority of the work on this project will occur between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

This project is expected to be complete by July 19 if not sooner.
