A former Redding neurologist, Dr. Hamid Rabiee, was sentenced to over 27 years in prison on Tuesday after being found guilty of over 60 counts of sexual assault on female patients.

KRCR's Mason Carroll was in the court during the sentencing and said Rabiee has been found guilty on all charges and sentenced to a total of 27 years and 8 months in prison.

Additionally, Carroll said Rabiee will have to pay $10,000 to the court and another $10,000 to the victims' compensation fund.

Shasta County Court Records showed Rabiee first appeared on Redding Police's radar back in 2007 after a woman came forward about an assault. Four other women also came forward accusing Rabiee of assaults in 2015, 2016, and 2017. After receiving multiple complaints, police arrested Rabiee in 2018.

In the courtroom Tuesday, a victim shared how this changed their life forever and asked for Rabiee to be given the maximum sentence.

"What he did to so many women is disgusting and damaging, and he can’t get away with that," one victim statement said. "I know for me, personally, this is going to affect me for the rest of my life.”

Following Rabiee's arrest, 18 more victims came forward.

In the end, the jury found Rabiee guilty on all 63 counts of charges against him.

Outside the courtroom, the women were sharing stories, hugging, and holding hands. They thanked each other for coming forward and telling their stories.

“I am speaking up to protect other women from this bad man," one victim said during sentencing. "It’s too late for me, he already traumatized and humiliated me for life. He says he doesn't remember. Here’s something he can remember. None of the women he assaulted will ever forget it.”

The Shasta County District Attorney's Office said Rabiee will be required to serve 85% of his prison sentence, under California law, since one of the crimes he's convicted of is a violent felony. He is also required to register as a sex offender.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
