MAXWELL, Calif. — The Glenn County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man who they say used a hammer during an argument Saturday.
Shortly before noon, deputies were dispatched to the area of County Road 39 and County Road P to investigate the report of an assault.
Deputies who arrived on scene spoke to a witness who said Timothy Gurule, 52, had approached them and said he may have killed someone. The witness noted that Gurule had blood stains on him.
Deputies said they checked a nearby home in the 2500 block of Country Road V, when they discovered a victim of assault lying in a pool of blood.
The victim was taken to the hospital by helicopter where officials said he is being treated for injuries to his head and upper body.
Investigators reported thatwhile at the home, they learned that Gurule and the victim had been in an argument, and Gurule had hit the victim several times with a hammer. Gurule then left the area in a gray Ford pickup belonging to the victim.
Gurule stopped and told a witness that he may have killed the victim, and then left the area.
As deputies were further investigating the crime scene, Glenn County Sheriff’s dispatch received a report of a hit and run collision in the City of Willows. The vehicle description matched that of the stolen pickup.
After a BOLO went out, the California Highway Patrol stopped Gurule in the gray pickup in Maxwell.
Gurule was arrested and booked for attempted murder, terrorist threats and vehicle theft.
