ORLAND, Calif. — Glenn County honors a local after a lifetime of service in education.
At the unveiling of Butte College’s Glenn County campus on Wednesday, a memorial bench was dedicated to late Orland educator Fred Perez.
Perez was a teacher at Orland high school for nearly 30 years, a member of the Kiwanis, and an elected trustee of the Butte-Glenn community college district.
He was a former Orland citizen of the year, Orland high alumnus of the year, and inducted into the Glenn County educators hall of fame before he passed in 2018.
“He was a special man who truly loved his job, his students, and his community.” said Butte College board of Trustees President Julie Boss. “Today we are honoring him with the Fred Perez Memorial,,, which nephews Rob and Fred donated to make this memorial possible.”
