The California Office of Emergency Services (CAL OES) has opened a shelter for Magalia residents that are being affected by this weekend's winter storm.

The shelter, located at the Magalia Community Church Center at 13700 Old Skyway in Magalia, is just one of eight total shelters opened throughout the entire state. The location will provide food, water, hot drinks, and a place to sleep for those who require shelter. According to a representative with the center, there are roughly 50 mattresses available for any overnight guests.

The center has received assistance from numerous locally-based organizations, including the Oroville Community Action Agency, the American Red Cross, the Butte County Community Emergency Response Team, and Chico's Global Empowerment Mission.
