Man sentenced to over 30-years-to-life for stabbing death of Fall River man in 2021

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. — A Shasta County man has been sentenced to over 30-years-to-life in prison for stabbing a man to death in 2021.

The district attorney's office said Richard Lee Duvall II, 31, was sentenced to 31-years-to-life in prison on Monday after being found guilty of murdering Neilon Welch in Dana on June 21, 2021.

Officials said Neil's mother, wife and sister made impact statements during the sentencing, including statements read on behalf of Neil's two young children, all expressing the sadness for the loss of a beloved father, son and brother.
