CHICO, Calif. — Chico Firefighters were dispatched Sunday morning to rescue a mountain biker who suffered a "significant fall" along a trail in Upper Bidwell Park.
The fall occurred along the Annie Bidwell Trail near Chico. After crews were dispatched to the area, the Chico Fire Department said firefighters were able to locate the biker and begin emergency medical treatment.
Due to the patient's condition and location, crews decided to utilize the Butte County Sheriff's H-1 rescue helicopter for a short-haul rescue.
Additionally, officials say Butte Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Enloe FlightCare crews arrived at the scene and were able to provide advanced patient care.
A Helicopter Rescue Tech (HRT) from the Chico Fire Department coordinated the extraction of the biker.
Officials say the biker was flown to a nearby ambulance and transported to a local hospital.
Just a day prior, Chico Fire said they conducted a multi-agency training scenario in Upper Park to prepare crews for similar situations.
