According to the Sheriff's office, Gibbs has served with them for 27 years—most recently as their jail commander and undersheriff.

“I am truly grateful for this opportunity to be Sheriff of Glenn County. It has been a career dream of mine to be the Sheriff of the county that I have spent over half of my life protecting and now it has come a reality.

I want to thank my wife Lisa for her strength, determination and intelligence. She is absolutely amazing. To my family, thank you all for your support. Thank you to all of the residents who supported me in my campaign.

It’s been a difficult time these past few months with Sheriff Warren out due to injury. As we move forward, I am excited to continue to work closely with our partner organizations and community members. I am deeply thankful for my staff and volunteers through the VIPS, Search and rescue, sheriff’s posse, chaplin program. I look forward to the future, being transparent and ethical in the present, learn from the past. Thank you all!”
