Northstate cheer team takes home national titles

A Northstate cheer team is celebrating another win on the national stage.

Vortex Cheer competed at the Jamz NA Nationals in Las Vegas on Jan. 22. Vortex's Team Force and Team Surge took home national champion titles. This is Team Force's second year as national champions.

Team Explosion won a second place title while Team Weather Girls and Team Crush took home third place wins.

"It’s just what we do this for. It’s why these kids come here," saidcoach and Vortex co-owner Erika Nelson. "Because they want the experience whether it’s a third place or national championship. It’s just something they’ll never forget."

78 athletes from Vortex Cheer competed. Winners came away with medals and National Champion jackets.

This is Vortex Cheer's fifth season.
