GLENN COUNTY, Calif. — The Glenn County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a phone scam where the caller identifies himself as being a deputy sheriff with the Glenn County Sheriff's Office.
Officials said the man then claims the victim failed to show up to a jury summons and eventually demands money in order to pay the "fine" and avoid arrest.
Several different numbers are being used in this scam including 530-955-8472. Officials said the caller ID displays "Glenn County" or something similar.
The Glenn County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who receives these suspicious phone calls to please report them and do not give any personal information or send any money.
Officials said if you happen to answer one of the calls, hang-up immediately and then contact your local law enforcement agency.
