Police are searching for a man who broke into the post office early Wednesday morning, threatened a post office employee, shattered a security glass door, and stole numerous items from a vending machine.

Redding police said they received a report of a man trespassing at the post office off of Yuba Street just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Officials said a female employee arrived at work and found a man had forced his way into the building. The employee eventually found the man naked inside the bathroom and he reportedly began threatening to harm her.

The RPD said the employee was able to leave the building and wait for police to arrive.

However, when police responded and checked the building and its surrounding, they were unable to find the naked man. What officers found instead was a damaged glass security door inside the main lobby and a damaged vending machine inside a breakroom with items stolen from it.

Police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Cody Vasey, a transient in the area. They've obtained an arrest warrant for Vasey for burglary, vandalism and criminal threats.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the RPD at (530) 225-4200.
