REDDING, Calif. — It’s National Small Business Week and the Redding Chamber of Commerce is recognizing the efforts of local small businesses and their importance.
From Tuesday, May 2, through Thursday, May 4, the chamber will be holding events around the city. On Tuesday, locals can get a free coffee at Old Shasta Coffee Company on Eureka Way by liking, commenting and sharing the chamber's social media post. On Wednesday, it's a barbecue at Bay Alarmon Larkspur Lane, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. And, on Thursday, a toast to small businesses will be held at Redding's Fall River Brewing Co., with the chamber providing free beers for all in attendance.
Located downtown, the chamber has noticed, firsthand, Redding’s revitalization efforts. But with storefronts still needing to be filled, they say it's important to show possible future entrepreneurs that Redding can and will support small business.
"They survive because of our local community patronizing their businesses," said Haley Kennedy, membership director of the Redding Chamber. "So, it’s kind of a 'give a little, get a lot' for locals to support local, buy local, shop local. Because what we get in return is a thriving community and a thriving economy, locally, that we get to benefit from!"
As Kennedy put it, it’s the chamber’s job to “celebrate local” every day, all day, and continue to push for Redding’s growth.
National Small Business Week began in 1963 via a Presidential Proclamation, making 2023 the 60th year our nation has recognized the critical contributions of entrepreneurs and small business owners.
