Kool April Nites is the Redding staple known for its classic cars and music, and it's all for a good cause.
Hundreds of classic cars lined up and down the Redding Civic Center Saturday, all to raise money for local children's programs and do so by showing off classic cars and bringing the community together.
For one couple, Frank and Karen Studva, it’s more than a car; it's memories. Frank and Karen have been married for 60 years and have been attending Kool April Nites for over 27 years.
Frank recalled the first time showing off the car which is now a reflection of all the milestones of their relationship. “In high school, I went in to get her and she came out and I said ‘I bought my first car’ and she said, ‘You bought a station wagon?’”
From their first date to their honeymoon and even raising their two daughters, they had the same car right by their side. “We have had a lot of fun in it, raising both of my girls in it. Drive-in movies in it and the next morning you clean all the popcorn out.”
After spending 10 years restoring it, Frank and Karen enjoy sharing it with the community. “My biggest reward is people looking at it and saying it's beautiful'. That's a payback,” Frank told KRCR.
There's still time if you haven't made it out to these Kool April Nites events as it does not conclude until Sunday night. The full schedule can be found here.
