REDDING, Calif. — A felon was caught with a half-pound of methamphetamine and a stolen shotgun-revolver during a traffic stop on Monday night, police said.
At around 8 p.m., police said Officer Odell stopped a car on Bechelli Lane near Loma Vista Drive. When the officer made contact with the driver, 59-year-old Jeffrey Longmire, a convicted felon from Redding, police said the officer observed meth laying on a seat in plain view.
Police said Detective Rouland and his K9 partner Chase were then called to the scene to assist. With the help of K9 Chase, police said officers ultimately found a half-pound of meth and a .410 caliber revolver loaded with slugs. The revolver was determined to be stolen out of Oregon.
Longmire was booked into the Shasta County Jail for being a prohibited person of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, possession of a stolen handgun, transporting a controlled substance for sales, and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm.
