REDDING, CALIF. — Redding firefighters were able to knock down a small vegetation blaze which, they say, began in a burn barrel.
According to the Redding Fire Department (RFD), the fire, which sparked along Alee Lane in Redding at 11:44 a.m., started as a result of someone illegally burning trash in a barrel. The fire escaped from the barrel and spread to nearby vegetation, but first responders were able to contain it to a 20 x 20 foot square of land. No one was injured in the incident.
RFD noted that burning trash or burning anything in a barrel is illegal during all months of the year, and want to remind residents that any permitted vegetation burns within Redding will end on Sunday, April 30th.
