REDDING, Calif. — Today is International Woman's Day and it might be getting a little more exposure than the City of Redding's "Joe Cosca Day."
That's right, in December of last year, Mayor Michael Dacquisto proclaimed March 8, 2023, as "Joe Cosca Day." In a news release, the city says, as president of the Senior Citizens of Shasta County Board of Directors the last eight years, he's helped facilitate many building improvements including adding a pool room and led the organization through a COVID-19 closure and reopening.
Mangas says if you could plug Cosca in, his enthusiasm would light up the whole city.
"The city fathers absolutely love us because, when they talk they're proud of us. And when they talk to other cities, counties and states, they are so excited to tell them about the pride they have in their senior center in the city of Redding. It's absolutely one of the most wonderful positions I have ever held and I feel so honored. Mike, it's a wonderous feeling!" Cosca told Mangas at his celebration on Wednesday.
A little celebration at the Senior Center on Tuesday. "Joe Cosca Day" is also his 90th birthday. Congratulations, Joe!
