REDDING, Calif. — Good nutrition is important for all of us, including cyclists.
On Tuesday, the restaurant operator was announced at the Bell Plaza in Downtown Redding, along with other news about a "Bike Share Program."
A McConnell Foundation project, made from resurrected bricks of the notorious Bell Rooms Brothel that stood on the corner of California and Shasta streets, Bell Plaza includes a restaurant that will be operated by Kevin Flynn, who owns a similar restaurant in Mount Shasta: "Pipeline Craft Taps & Kitchen."

"Pipeline Redding" will feature, as he says, "elevated burgers, sandwiches, tacos, salads, and more."
“We’re going to have a long bar running along this wall, obviously featuring that pipeline, right?" Kevin said while explaining the layout to Mike. "Upstairs, you’ll have an additional 40 seats or more and some incredible views. Looking out this direction you have the doors that completely open to the courtyard and [you’ll have] dining out there as well.”
“Getting in here, in downtown, and seeing this whole revitalization happening, it’s just exciting—it’s exciting for Redding," Kevin said. "Redding’s a market that I’ve wanted to—that I’ve dreamt about—getting into for a decade at least. So, being here, right now, and seeing this come together is a pretty awesome feeling.”
The Shasta Bike Depot will also move in, sharing the courtyard. Executive Director Anne Thomas says a bike share program is coming with daily, monthly, and annual memberships to make electric-assist bicycles available in the downtown area.

“Bike share operates on a subscription basis. So it’s a shared-use mobility option and you can buy a subscription for a day, a month, or a year," explained Anne.
The Bike Depot should open first, followed by the restaurant this fall and the bike share program next March.
