REDDING, Calif. — Senior citizens roping and riding? Well, not exactly. The Shasta Estates Senior Living Home held a senior rodeo and a barbeque for residents on Tuesday afternoon.
Of course, it wouldn't be a rodeo without the Asphalt Cowboys and Miss Redding Rodeo being a part of it. They served tri-tip steak, hot dogs and other food items. "Mad Max," the mechanical bull, was a favorite for the cowboys and others, but not so much for the residents.
Engaged Life's Coordinator Margie Linderman told KRCR that this is the seniors' favorite event of the year.
"This is the funnest event of the year, we have all been out here since five o'clock this morning to put on a great event for all the seniors they love this, it's their favorite it's their absolute favorite event of the year," Linderman said. She also said the goal is to let the residents have as much fun, and get them as much social interaction, as they can.
Well, Wild Country Entertainment helped with that interaction by playing the music at the event and getting the seniors up dancing and singing karaoke.
