Thousands of Siskiyou County residents are currently under evacuation orders or warnings due to the McKinney Fire, and now multiple shelters have been set up to accommodate both evacuated people and animals.

One evacuation shelter is the Weed Community Center, located at 161 East Lincoln Avenue in Weed, California.

A second shelter is the LDS Church in Ashland, Oregon located at 111 Clay Street.

There are also various shelter locations set up for animals of all kinds.

Dogs can be taken to 2216 East Oberlin Road in Yreka, California.

Cats can be taken to Montague Community Center at 200 South 11th Street in Montague, California.

Livestock can be taken to 1712 Fairlane Road in Yreka, California.

Residents who have evacuated and may have animals at their evacuated residence that need an animal welfare check should complete the online Animal Welfare Check Form. All animals that are found without n owner will be posted online.

Siskiyou County's Office of Emergency Services is asking people to refrain from bringing donations to shelter sites. Those who wish to donate can donate money through Project Camp.

The Local Foodbank is accepting donations of new, sealed food and drink. To arrange donation drop-offs, contact Laura Leech 530-340-6382.

Crisis counseling services are available through Siskiyou County Behavioral Health. Call the Access Crisis Line to speak to a local counselor: 800-842-8979.

The National Disaster Distress Helpline is also available for anyone experiencing emotional distress related to disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, or incidents of mass violence.Call 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.

TheSiskiyou County Office of Emergency Services encourages residents in or around high risk counties to know their zones in the event of evacuations.
