BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — After eight years of helping fight crime, the Butte County Sheriff's Office announced that their K9 Riddick passed away recently.
Officials say K9 Riddick spent those years with his partner Sergeant Leonard.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of BCSO K9 Riddick. Riddick was the K9 partner of Sergeant Leonard for eight years," posted BCSO. "Riddick was 10-years-old and will be greatly missed by all of us at BCSO. We are grateful for his service."
They say the K9 wasa narcotics detection K9, and worked in the Butte County Jail, the Alternative Custody Supervision (ACS) Program, and the Sheriff’s Work Alternative (SWAP) Program.
