SISKIYOU COUNTY, Calif. — Siskiyou County is one of the many places already experiencing snow amidst the winter storm moving into the Northstate. But, according to local residents in McCloud and Weed, more snow doesn't seem to be a problem.
KRCR checked out both locations on Thursday, discovering snowfall, slick roads and cold temperatures during the drive north on Interstate 5.
Highway patrol officers were at the ready for when conditions become worse. Speaking with two locals in Weed, KRCR was informed that folks in the area, having been battle-hardened in the snow for some time, were also at the ready with proper tires, chains, vehicles and firewood to help them best the cold winter snow.
In McCloud, the atmosphere was similar as one man told KRCR that because of their experience with the snow, the residents of McCloud were already prepared with kerosene heaters, firewood and warm clothing. He added that if more snow were to come, assuming it wasn't too much, people would be ready for it, pointing out that they have cut firewood ready to go if some extra warmth is required.
