REDDING, Calif. — Detectives with the Redding Police Department (RPD) are searching for suspects who stole a truck and racecar from a neighborhood in north Redding over the weekend.
The RPD said three suspects made their way into a fenced yard off of Charles Drive on Saturday night, Sept. 17, and stole a gray '01 Dodge Ram towing a drag racecar, as well as several tools.
The following night, a local in Lakehead called the California Highway Patrol (CHP) after finding the trailer parked on Riverview Drive. The officer responded and confirmed it was the stolen trailer with the racecar still in tow.
Police said a gray GMC Sierra drove through the area while the CHP officer was still at the scene. They said the CHP officer stopped the Sierra and identified its driver as Robert Miner, 65, of Auburn, Calif. The officer then detained Miner after they learned the Sierra was wearing stolen license plates.
While searching the car, the RPD said the officer found tools and other property stolen from the original truck and trailer from the night before. Ultimately, Miner was arrested for the stolen items and for an arrest warrant out of Nevada.
The RPD said their detectives are still searching for the stolen Ram and three suspects involved. The suspects were caught on surveillance cameras and are described as follows:
The stolen truck is described as a 2001 Dodge Ram with an extended cab, silver rims and silver toolbox in the bed—CA plate number 8Y33207.
Anyone who recognizes the suspects caught on security cameras, or has additional information for Detectives regarding this incident, please contact the Redding Police Department at (530) 225-4200.
