REDDING, Calif. — California Highway Patrol (CHP) made multiple DUI arrests off Cypress Avenue in Redding early Saturday morning.
Around 1:30 a.m. CHP says they observed a silver Nissan traveling double the speed limit on Cypress Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle and conducted a DUI screening and arrested the driver of the Nissan. CHP says they also found an opened bottle of Cuervo in the Nissan.
While officers were conducting the DUI investigation for the driver of the Nissan, CHP says a white Honda drove past without their lights on. Officers stopped the Honda and observed signs of DUI. The driver of the Honda was also arrested.
CHP says: "Driving Impaired is Dangerous and can be DEADLY. In 2020, in California alone 1,159 people died from DUI-related collisions according to the California Office of Traffic Safety."
