Mother and child hit by SUV while crossing Skyway in Paradise

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. — A mother and her child sustained minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Paradise on Friday afternoon.

Officials with the Paradise Police Department (PPD) said, at around 4:50 p.m., their officers received a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash near the intersection of Skyway and Honey Run Road.

Officers learned a woman walked across the crosswalk at the intersection with her child in a stroller when a white SUV turned left from Honey Run Road onto Skyway and struck her. The driver of the SUV reportedly told officers they did not see the mother or the stroller as they were in their blind spot.

The PPD said the pedestrian and her child both received minor injuries in the collision. The cause of the crash is still being investigated, however, drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been involved.
