January's winter storm has led to rock and mudslides causing major road closures across the Northstate.

As of 7:00 a.m. California Highway Patrol (CHP) provided the following list of road closures:

  • SR16 to SR20 all the way into the Yolo area due to a rock slide and debris from the winter storm.
  • Lower Honcut from Highway 70 to Polermo Honcut is closed due to flooding.
  • Hahn Road between Lonestar Road and Grimes Arbuckle.
  • Colusa Highway from Cherokee Canal to Butte Creek.
  • Afton Road from Aguas Frias to the Glenn County Line.
  • River Road from West Sacramento Avenue to Chico River Road.
  • Durnel Drive from Grainland to Nelson Road.
  • Cana Highway from Cana Pine Creek to the end of the roadway.
  • In Nicolaus, between Pacific Blvd and Warren.
  • El Centro Blvd. between Cornelius and 4th.
  • Garden Highway between Worth Road and West Catlett.
  • Hamilton Nord Cana Highway from Bennett Road to Cana Highway.
  • Nord Gianella from Folson to the end of the roadway.

There is also a large full road closure affecting Highway 70 fromJarbo Gap all the way into Plumas County at Highway 89. You can read about this closure here.

The Northstate has been slammed with a parade of storms over the past weeks and with the soil already soaked from past storms, mudslides are expected to be more common with the rainfall.
