DENTON, Texas (WKRC) - A child's parents are outraged after watching released body-cam video of a resource officer handcuffing and pinning down their son.

Emily Brown is the mother of Thomas Brown who has Autism.

"You're flooded with so many different emotions. Anger, hurt, and just lonesomeness," Brown said.

The incident occurred at Alexander Elementary School. Denton Police say the ten-year-old was being disruptive and swinging a computer mouse near other children.

In the video, school resource officer Eric Coulston picked Thomas up while he struggled.

According to Thomas's parents, Coulston carried him to a quiet place and "face planted" him.

Then, he was handcuffed and pinned to the ground.

Police say Thomas kicked and spit on the officer.

Emily Brown said, "He's scared. He's got a lot of anxiety because the very people that I told him to trust, he can't."

The school responded that protocol was followed correctly.

The city released a statement saying: "The decision to use restraints was made only when the child posed a serious threat to himself or others. once the child was calm, the restraints were removed."

"It's disgusting that ... this officer is put there to protect and serve our children, and he abused a disabled little boy. He showed no compassion in that room," Brown said.

The family is considering taking legal action against the police department and the district.
