ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WLOS) — Authorities in Upstate South Carolina got quite the surprise during a recent traffic stop.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office says deputies initiated a traffic stop along Interstate 85 when the department's Special Investigation Division and Directed Patrol Unit were out conducting "proactive patrol."
Deputies pulled over two people, driver Anthony Miller and Cemeka Mitchem.
Authorities say the first "red flag" began when the two gave conflicting information regarding Mitchem's due date.
The sheriff's office said in an online news release that as it became more apparent that deputies were becoming more suspicious, Mitchem "took off running and very quickly drugs fell from the fake rubber stomach."
Deputies collected more than 1,500 grams of cocaine from the traffic stop.
Miller and Mitchem are facing trafficking cocaine charges.
