BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- Baltimore City Police announce an arrest in the beating death of a 67-year-old homeless man.
Dion Dixon, a 19-year old from Northwest Baltimore is being charged with beating Randolph Cockrell while he slept on a porch.
Police say they were called to the 3700 block of Oakmont Avenue around 5am Tuesday.
Investigators believe Dixon confronted the victim and then assaulted him with a brick. Detectives say Dixon dragged Cockrell off the porch and continued to beat him.
After the assault, police say Dixon left the location.
Online court records show because of previous animal cruelty charges, Dixon was set to appear before a judge next week.
Dion Dixon was taken to the Central Booking and Intake Facility.
Dixon is charged with murder, assault, and weapons related charges.
