After winning her first Oscar at the95th Academy Awards, renowned actress Jamie Lee Curtis reportedly discussed the possibility of gender-neutral award categories.

Speaking with reporters after her"Best Supporting Actress" win on Sunday, Curtis openly expressed her wishes to see more women nominated and winning Oscars. At the same time, the 64-year-old Oscar-winning actress spoke about her desire to see the awards show be more inclusive and open to people outside the gender binary.

Obviously, I would like to see a lot more women be nominated so that there's gender parity in all the areas and all the branches, and I think we're getting there," Curtis said, according to People Magazine.
We're not anywhere near there. And of course, the inclusivity then that involves the bigger question, which is, how do you include everyone when there are binary choices, which is very difficult," Curtis reportedly added. "As the mother of a trans daughter, I completely understand that."

Curtis went on to say that while such inclusion is something she'd like to see, she understands that there could be unintended side effects of making Oscar categories genderless.

And yet, to de-gender the category, also, I'm concerned [that] will diminish the opportunities for more women, which is something I also have been working hard to try to promote," Curtis reportedly said. "So it's a complicated question, but I think the most important thing is inclusivity and more women."

In a nod to the film "Everything Everywhere All at Once," for which she won her Best Supporting Actress Oscar, Curtis told reporters that she would like to see "more women anywhere, everywhere and all at once" achieving success, according to People Magazine.

But I think the most important thing is inclusivity and more women. I mean, basically just f***ing more women anywhere, anytime, all at once," Curtis reportedly said.

Curtis also spoke about her family during her Oscars acceptance speech. Her mother,Janet Leigh, and her father,Tony Curtis, were both nominated for Oscars, however, their daughter is the only one of the three toactually win.

Janet Leigh was nominated for her role in the classic 1960 Alfred Hitchcock horror film "Psycho" andTony Curtis was nominated for his part in the1958 drama "The Defiant Ones." Both have since passed away.

Curtis's transgender daughter, Ruby, publicly came out in 2020. Curtis has been openly supportive of her child's transition, but also said in 2022 that she fears for her daughter's well-being in America's social climate.

There are real threats," Curtis said in the 2022 interview. "I have a trans daughter. There are threats against her life, just her existence as a human being. There are people that want to annihilate her, and people like her."

Ruby's full name is Ruby Guest, as she is also the daughter of actor and screenwriterChristopher Guest.
