NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Tennessee man is in jail for allegedly throwing an 80-year-old woman into opposing traffic during a road rage incident.
Two victims, a man and woman, were driving where Billy Johnson was reportedly driving aggressively behind them, according to an affidavit.
The man victim said that Johnson was about to rear end them when he came to a red light. Johnson got out of his vehicle at the stop light, approached the victims' car with a flashlight and began banging on the car window.
One of the victims got out of the car and an argument began among the two. At this time, the woman in the victim vehicle got out of the car and tried to break up the fight, the documents say.
Johnson then picked up the 80-year-old woman and threw her into the opposite lane of traffic, the affidavit states.
The woman was transported to Skyline Medical Center with an internal head bleed from hitting her head on the pavement. She is currently in the ICU with a severe head trauma.
Johnson sped off after reportedly throwing the woman into traffic. Witnesses who saw the fight said the woman was thrown across one to two lanes of traffic, unable to get up.
Johnson was arrested outside his home shortly after the incident.
He is charged with vandalism $1,000 or less, obstruction of a passageway, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with serious injury. He is due on March 31.
