A Virginia man faces numerous charges after Prince William Police say he snuck up behind a Manassas Food Lion employee and sexually assaulted her Friday.

Officers say at 8:50 a.m., 31-year-old Michael Earl Alexander, of Woodbridge, walked into a Food Lion located at 6306 Hoadly Road in Manassas and began to follow an employee, identified as a 58-year-old woman, around the store.

The employee reported to police on this occasion Alexander approached her and had a brief interaction before walking away. The employee further reported she went back to work stocking aisles when she was approached from behind by the same Alexander from behind. As he walked away, the employee felt an unknown fluid on her pants. Preliminarily, the liquid found on the employee is believed to be bodily fluid based on Alexander's behavior and interactions after approaching the employee from behind.

Video surveillance shows Alexander watching the employee on multiple occasions from other aisles within the store, then approaching the employee from behind while exposing himself and making obscene motions, unknown to the employee, who was facing away from the man.

Alexander had been known to visit the location and has had previous brief encounters with the female employee in the past, police said.

Alexander is charged with sexual battery, indecent exposure, and obscene sexual display.
