COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A man in Columbus, Ohio said he has been trying to get ahold of AT&T for more than six months after a crew laid an internet cord in his yard.
He toldWSYX technicians left it exposed and broke an electrical box, but they won't come out to fix it.
Lyu Hristozov is not an AT&T customer. He said when crews knocked on his door, he wanted to help them out and figured they would bury the cord in the ground, but they didn't. He said he's made calls and emails.
To AT&T's credit, he said, the company responded to his initial email, saying it would be fixed, but when crews went back, they said it wasn't AT&T's problem.
The only time they communicated with me was when they knocked on my door. You can see the tracks from the bulldozer," Hristozov said.
Hristozov said technicians who claimed they were from AT&T told him they needed to put an internet cable on the property.
I said OK. He asked to put heavy machines in, too, like a bulldozer and two trucks," Hristozov said.
Hristozov said AT&T crews were at his house doing work for more than a week, digging up the ground and leaving dirt patches behind, along with flags in the ground and an exposed cable.
He said crews also broke one of the electric boxes, and his 3-year-old daughter later fell on it.
The crews from AT&T never came back.
Hristozov said his neighbors didn't know anything about it, so he called AT&T.
"They asked me for evidence, so I sent them the pictures I sent you," he said.
Hristozov said a technician came out and said AT&T wasn't responsible.
"He said, 'This is not an AT&T cable; we're not fixing it. That box doesn't belong to AT&T. We're not fixing it,'" Hristozov said.
"The technician said to me, you need to contact Breezeline or Spectrum, it's not our job they cut our lines, but we don't fix them for them," Hristozov added.
When he reached out to AT&T again, they said the technician went out. The problem was fixed, and the ticket was closed.
But now, Hristozov is still stuck with a mess in his backyard.
I just want my kids to be safe," he said. "I don't want money; I don't want anything except for this to be resolved."
AT&T told Hristozov to call Breezeline Cable or Spectrum to fix it.
WSYX reached out to all three companies to get to the bottom of who's responsible, but have not heard back yet.
