WASHINGTON (TND) — A brand-new service says that it seeks to help warn conservative-leaning consumers to avoid companies and products that are too "woke" by use of a text alert system.
"Woke Alert" claims it will notify grocery shoppers and online buyers alike when a brand is taking up a political stance that conflicts with traditional Republican values. This will better enable shoppers to boycott those brands.
News of the service comes as many conservative critics are calling for bans of certain "woke" products, such asAnheuser-Busch's "Bud Light" beer that recently partnered with a transgender activist for a promotion.
Many corporations are putting progressive activists and their dangerous agendas ahead of customers," Woke Alert says on its website. "They’ll only succeed if we look the other way."
Sign up for Woke Alerts to be notified when companies cave to the woke mob – so you know the brands attacking your values," Woke Alert continues.
Bud Light is on the list of Woke Alert's many offenders. Joining the beer brand is alcoholic brand Jack Daniels, whhich Woke Alert claims has gotten "drunk on Woke Politics," the infamous and now-shuttered Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), tech giantApple, the NFL, the WNBA and even the Americanmulti-national investment company BlackRock which is said to be theworld's largest asset manager.
The new "Woke Alert" service is a plan put together by the non-profitConsumers' Research, which is in no way affiliated with the well-known nonprofit Consumer Reports. Consumers' Research says that it "has been exposing corporate wrongdoing since 1929."
By means of a text alert system,Consumers' Research is apparently hoping to provide shoppers with up-to-date information on which companies are too "woke" and therefore deserve to be boycotted.
The alert system's sign-up form only asks for a user's first name and mobile phone number. There is a selectable box, selected by default, that asks if the user wants to receive SMS text alerts from Consumer's Research. That selection warns that message and data rates may apply to the service and users should expect about five to ten messages a month.
Users can text "stop" in reply at any time to cease receiving the "Woke Alert" messages, the sign-up form adds.
We are launching Woke Alerts to help consumers make better-informed decisions about where to spend their money,"executive director of Consumers’ Research Will Hild told Axios. "We believe companies should focus on their customers and not woke politicians and progressive activists."
The National Desk has reached out toConsumer's Research to obtain more information about "Woke Alert" but has yet to hear back. If a response is received, it will be added to this article.
