(WBFF) — The shocking video of former Baltimore Ravens star running back Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiance in an elevator may be coming back to haunt the NFL. Now, six attorneys general, led by New York Attorney General Letitia James, are calling out the incident, saying nothing has changed in the NFL since 2014.

Eight years ago, video showed Rice attacking his fiancee in the elevator of a New Jersey casino. He was seen hitting her, then dragging her unconscious body from the elevator. Rice was initially banned for life from the NFL but that ban was overturned in court. Criminal charges were eventually dropped against Rice after he agreed to undergo counseling. Rice never played in the NFL again.

“In 2014, we watched in horror as the video of Ray Rice brutally attacking his fiancé was made public,” said Attorney General James in a news release.

“In the aftermath of that disturbing incident and too many others, the NFL promised to do better, take gender violence seriously, and improve conditions for women within the league. We now know that they did nothing of the sort. No woman should ever be subjected to the sort of harassment, disrespect, discrimination, and abuse these brave women have described. The NFL must finally make good on its promise and do better — pink jerseys are not a replacement for equal treatment and full inclusion of women in the workplace.”

Earlier this year, the New York Times published reports, indicating that dozens of former NFL employees were describing hostile workplaces for women.

They say they were subjected to repeated viewings of the Rice video, which was first obtained by TMZ Sports.

James says that failure to address these issues may violate local, state and federal anti-discrimination laws and says her office may investigate all allegations of harassment.
