SANTA CLARA, Utah (KUTV) — A Utah man was arrested after allegedly shooting a pistol into the ground and chasing a group of juveniles because he was upset that they had been "driving fast and kicking up dust and rocks."
Police responded to the scene in Washington County at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Alan Culver-Ashby, 73, had reportedly discharged a gun at least one time while ordering at least six juveniles onto the ground after he observed them driving recklessly in front of a home.
The group ran and secured themselves in the house while Culver-Ashby chased them "with the pistol still in his hand," according to court documents. Officials said Culver-Ashby tried to open the door but was unsuccessful in gaining entry.
Culver-Ashby eventually left and was stopped by officers. He told them he was upset about the juveniles' behavior and discharged a pistol "in an effort to intimidate" them.
Police said Culver-Ashby pulled up to the scene in a van prior to the altercation, and two loaded revolvers were found in a search of his vehicle.
He was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail on one count of felony discharge of a firearm and six counts of aggravated assault, all third-degree felonies.
