DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) - Two young children, including a 4-year-old boy, had a front-row seat to a dramatic chase and arrest of a reckless driver in a stolen car in central Florida.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office released body camera footage of the chase, which reached speeds of up to 100 mph, investigators said.

According to deputies, the incident began when a license plate reader alerted deputies to a stolen car on International Speedway Boulevard.

The sheriff's office said the suspect, 26-year-old Jervaughn Bonner, rammed a deputy's patrol car and sped away.

Authorities said they could not see that Bonner had a 15-year-old girl in the backseat and a 4-year-old boy unbuckled in the front seat of the car.

Investigators said Bonner passed over two sets of stop sticks in his run from the law before he got onto Interstate 4 with deflated tires. Bonner crashed into a guardrail and kept going. He eventually pulled over in the median and ran into the bushes. The 15-year-old also ran off but deputies detained her.

The sheriff's office sent a K-9 after Bonner. The dog latched onto the man's arm to help bring him into custody. He was treated at Halifax Health Medical Center for an arm injury.

The 15-year-old girl, reported missing earlier in the day, was returned to her mother. The Department of Children & Families took custody of the 4-year-old boy, the sheriff's office said. One deputy can be heard on video comforting the young boy during the ordeal.

Bonnerfaces charges of grand theft auto, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts child abuse, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, interference with child custody, driving while license suspended or revoked and resisting an officer without violence.
