COVINGTON, Va. (WSET) — Winning the lottery once is rare.
Winning the lottery twice may have happened a handful of times.
But having two winning tickets in the same lottery drawing is probably unheard of.
The Virginia Lottery said that’s what Ben Baker did.
He bought ten tickets for the March 4 Powerball drawing. Not one, but two of those tickets matched four of the winning numbers, plus the Powerball number.
Normally, a winner would get a $50,000 prize, but this is Ben Baker.
He spent an extra dollar on each ticket for the Power Play which tripled each prize to $150,000, for a grand total of $300,000.
“I was really lucky!” he said as he received his big check from the Virginia Lottery's executive director, Kelly T. Gee.
The winning numbers in that drawing were 10-16-18-40-66, and the Powerball number was 16. He bought his tickets at a Food Lion grocery store.
Baker said he plans to use some of the money on home improvements and save the rest.
