More than eight decades after selling its first film camera, Canon is finished with film.

In a notice sent by the company to its customers, Canon will no longer sell its film single reflex camera, the EOS - 1v.

The company said it will still make repairs to them until October 31, 2025, but services may be refused as early as October 31, 2020, if there is a lack of parts in its inventory.

Sales of the company's first film camera -- the Hansa Canon -- began in 1936.

According to the Daily Mail, Canon actually stopped producing new film cameras eight years ago given the overwhelming demand for digital cameras, but had been selling old stock until now.
