DES MOINES, Iowa (KMEG) — Des Moines Police have arrested the man who gained access into MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines and fed a baby that was not his on Dec. 27.

36-year-old Adam Wedig is now charged with two counts of criminal trespassing.

Court documents say that Wedig gained access to the secure NICU at Mercy Hospital after a nurse exited through the door. After entering the NICU, Wedig then entered a room where he had no legitimate purpose to be. He admitted the child in the room was not his.

Police say that Wedig did not intend to harm the baby and an exact motive is unclear.

He was booked into the Polk County Jail.
