COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - A search for a cyclist who was allegedly hit by a semi truck was called off after a pickup truck driver returned to the scene to claim his bike.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office says it got a call Tuesday morning about a truck hitting a cyclist, knocking him up into the air, over the guardrail and into a waterway. Two women who were driving behind the truck called 911 and reported the scene. Responders found a bike on the side of the road.

After a few hours search, it was determined that there was no victim. A man who was driving a pickup truck said the bicycle fell out of his truck along with a duffel bag. That bike was then hit by a passing semi truck.

The incident, which happened near the intersection of London Groveport Road and Parsons Avenue, per the sheriff's office, closed the intersection for a few hours.

Search and rescue crews and dive teams were on scene, as well as crews in the air looking. The search for a tractor trailer was suspended as there was no victim.
