PORTLAND, Ore. – A Southeast Portland restaurant owner is asking for help locating one of his customers who may have left a tip much larger than he intended.
Oniel Ortiz, owner of San Felipe Taqueria, said the man entered his restaurant on Southeast Milwaukie Avenue Saturday night and had one beer, which cost $5.
The customer paid by credit card and left a $5,000 tip.
Was it intentional or a big mistake? Ortiz wants to know.
“And I know somehow this person is going to see his bank account and is going to be like, ‘Huh?’ I’m pretty sure there’s a mistake. I don’t think that no one will give you a $5,000 tip for a $5 beer,” Ortiz said.
Ortiz is hoping the customer will come forward.
