SAN ANTONIO — The internet shade today has been real.
When IHOP announced last week that it would be changing it's name to "IHOb," many were confused and wondered what the heck the "b" could stand for. Most thought it would stand for "breakfast" because, duh, why wouldn't it? However, everyone was wrong.
Today, the company announced that the "b" stands for burgers. That's right, burgers. The chain's Twitter bio reads "Burgers so burgerin’ good, we changed our name to IHOb. For burgers." IHOP President Darren Rebelez said that they are still IHOP, but the move is a marketing campaign to show that the chain is more than just breakfast food. Rebelez added that they want customers to "take our burgers as seriously as our pancakes."
However, many online seem to agree that the name change is ridiculous.
The beloved Whataburger joined in on the trolling, bringing top-grade shade to the internet once again.
Wendy's also chimed in, comparing the name change to a decision a child would make.
